Creating Inclusive Environments

Creating Inclusive Environments
As we all grapple with what is going on outside the walls of our organizations our Board of Directors at our last meeting discussed many issues that impact our members and the lawyers we represent.  Diversity in practice believes the values we set out in our strategic plan are more important now than even.  We are committed to being open, accountable, authentic, collaborative and evolutionary.  Thus, the Board of Directors would like to share with you a statement which confirms our commitment to Diversity and true inclusion in our legal community.

“Statement of Twin Cities Diversity in Practice Regarding Recent Executive Orders on Immigration   Twin Cities Diversity in Practice values and supports diversity and inclusion in the Twin Cities legal community and beyond.  We are concerned about the recent executive orders on immigration and border security.  As an organization consisting of legal professionals we believe border security measures must balance and  be consistent with fundamental principles of justice, the independence of the judicial branch, and, importantly, due process that protect all individuals, including racial, ethnic, and religious minorities.  Our mission is to identify, recruit, advance, and retain attorneys of color in the Twin Cities Metropolitan Area.  This mission is best achieved when done in an environment where all persons are welcomed, respected, and valued.  We encourage our member organizations to take advantage of the tools and resources on the Twin Cities Diversity in Practice website to further engage in the dialogue around these issues.
