1.What is your area of practice?

I represent clients in the areas of product liability, commercial litigation, and employment law. I’ve been fortunate enough to gain a variety of experience within these practice groups, including, but not limited to, employment discrimination matters, contract disputes, product liability issues involving recreational power sports and health care products, and FELA matters.I also dedicate time to pro-bono work, including volunteering with VLN and representing individuals in criminal matters.

2.Why are you unique?

The first thing that comes to mind is that I grew up in a bi-cultural household. My exposure to different cultural backgrounds has certainly shaped who I am today. My perspectives of race, culture, and community were transformed and strengthened. Whereas many people may feel most secure in familiar environments, I thrive off of the adventure of exploring new cultures and connecting with new friends. The ease at which I can navigate unfamiliar situations and connect with individuals different than myself is one of my greatest personal and professional assets. I am confident in my belief that humanity is far more similar than we are different—in fact, it is a fine line that separates us all.

3.How did you do it?

I don’t believe I’ve done “it” quite yet. I believe I have accomplished a lot, but I also recognize that there is so much more to be done. This is what keeps me going. Like most people, I’ve faced setbacks in my career, and I try to learn from each experience. My experiences as a former collegiate track athlete have taught me to remain humble, hardworking, and enjoy the journey.

4.What do you do outside of the law?

I can think of several things, but to narrow it down, I love thrifting, which mainly consists of exploring antique furniture stores around the city in search of unique treasures with a story behind them. I also enjoy running, traveling, trying out new restaurants, and spending time with family and friends.

5.Who were the people critical to your success and who do you want to thank?

My family. I am extremely grateful for my parents, older sister, and twin brother. I thank them for being a constant support to me through law school and my legal career. My fiancé, Ryan. I thank him for his generosity, patience, and unconditional support. I know he will always be by my side, encouraging me through the difficult times, and celebrating with me on my successes. My mentors. I am lucky to have such wonderful people in my life, including, but certainly not limited to, Judge James Cunningham, Judge Pam Alexander, Val Jensen, several colleagues (who may or may not know who they are) at Nilan Johnson Lewis, and several professors and staff at Hamline Mitchell College of Law.
